Bridget is our Associate Pastor of Programs. Bridget works with a great team of staff and volunteers to offer a wide range of programming to the children, youth, and families at Royal Oak First. From nursery care to high school Youth Group, kids of all ages are welcome and encouraged to get involved! Bridget leads our Program Staff Team, working with part-time staff to create opportunities for people of all ages to connect with each other and with God. In January 2022, Bridget was appointed to the Pastoral Team of Royal Oak First. Born and raised in Wisconsin, Bridget came to the Detroit area in 1997 for a one-year volunteer year and hasn’t left yet! She has her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Social Work and cares deeply about issues of inclusion and justice. Bridget is married to Pastor Jeff Nelson and they have two sons, Casey and Sam.
