Dear Friends,
This weekend is a little weird for our family. It is weird because it feels like we have a foot in two worlds. It is still summer. The memories are still pretty fresh of camps and swimming and ice cream on the back porch as the fireflies dance in dusk of long evenings is still pretty fresh – and part of us wants more time. But Tuesday is the start of school. It will be back to routines and schedules, homework and practices, and the fun of reconnecting with friends my boys haven’t seen in a while. I know that my kids are also ready to get back into the swing of school.
So, here we are with one foot firmly in summer and another foot edging back to school. So what to do? Well, I say, “Enjoy the moment!” Today is the gift we have been given. Tomorrow will come soon enough. And just to help us enjoy this last weekend of summer there is this amazing festival of great music, good food, and amazing art! It is almost as if God has said, “Let me cap off this amazing season by putting this wonderful creativity on display and inviting all kinds of amazing people.” Yes, tomorrow is coming. Yes, the season is changing, but today is today and it is here to be enjoyed.
So enjoy the worship this morning. Enjoy it! Then get out and enjoy the festival. And if this is not really your scene, then get out of here after worship and go for a walk, ride your bike, watch a movie, have some ice cream—just do something today to savor the last days of summer.
We are glad you are here!
