Dear Friends,
The Faith and Film series is coming to an end and I have to say, it makes me a little sad. I love being in the theatre with my church family. My apologies to those of you who have had to sit beside me. I am a crier and yes, I had to put my hands over my eyes a couple of times during this last movie. Last Monday during the advertisement for the MJR Theater, we were all laughing, singing and clapping to some silly song. “It’s more than a movie; it’s a big night out. It’s more fun at MJR (oh yeah) It’s more fun at MJR!”
There is great truth there; it is indeed more than just a movie. It’s also more than just a big night out. This my friends, is a taste of the kingdom, God’s kingdom, where we all gather as family, where we are not afraid to laugh and cry together, where we find truth in cartoons and make space to look closely at the critical social issues of our time.
God is moving in this community in big ways. I am extremely grateful that you, at Royal Oak First, allow me to be a part of this movement. I’m taking on a full time role here and while in some ways it takes my breath away, it is a privilege to serve. I will work hard to keep the wheels on the bus and the good work that has begun moving forward so that Jeff Nelson can take the time and space he needs.
Starting next week, we are celebrating a month of “love”. You know I am a child of the 60’s so I cannot help myself. “Take a good look around, and if you are feeling down. Put a little Love in your heart.”
Grace and Peace,
